Free Samples More like Free Meal

Where I work there has always been a place to eat on the first floor.  The one that has been there ever since I worked there was an Asian/American buffet.  Great food for breakfast and lunch.  I got to know the workers and they always were helpful and kept a clean buffet.  They lost their lease on the office and had to leave.  Wednesday after months of waiting the new place opened up.  Well their official opening is not till Monday but Wednesday we received an email inviting us to come down at 11 and have some free samples.  Boy was I surprised as was everyone else in the office.  They started out with half BLT's for everyone.  They had a hot buffet (pay buy weight) hot bar with Asian and American choices.  We did not know they were including the buffet in the free samples.  Also there was a carving station.  They were serving "samples" of prime rib.  And when I say sample I don't mean the little sample on a toothpick.  They gave us a steak size portion cooked perfect for me.  Rare and very well seasoned.  They also brought out 3 large salads and toppings.  Soups and pastas.  For the most part it was almost everything on their menu.  They will also have Bubble Tea and fruit smoothies.  That is what I am looking forward to the most.  What is this place you ask?  WWW.sproutcafeat.com  check out the site and menu.  I have a hard copy and will be marking off each thing I try.  I think I am going to like this place very much.  I am sad to see all the food trucks leave but this is a good change as well.  Would I eat there again?  Duh..yes..Monday can not get here soon enough..hahaha.  God bless, thanks for reading and Happy Thanksgiving. On my plate.  Prime rib, General Tso chicken, lo mien, fried rice and two types of salad.

Crab cake nachos

It's been a while fellow food freaks. Tonight's menu was crab cakes and nachos. I took last night's left over crab cake, broke it up over some nachos, topped with salsa and fresh farmers cheese  and finished it off with so spinach. The cheese was from www.stoneypointfarmmarket.com and if you are from Littlestown Pa you better know where this is and give them your business. Sorry for the delay in posting but I have had a lot come up. Hospital stays and the birth of my first child. Banner-Wolf.  Born October 8th. I can't wait till he can eat solid food. He will have a world of tastes ahead of him. Thanks for reading, God bless and see you at the pediatrician.

Sweet treat

I wanted something sweet after my breakfast. Nothing in the pantry so I did the next best thing. No I did not go buy doughnuts. The other day we pulled about a dozen pares from my parents tree and a brought them home to get ripe. I took the largest and the one that was the hardest, sliced it thin, a little butter, brown sugar and cinnamon and sauteed them in a pan till tender. First time me doing this and boy was it good. I left the skin on for a little more texture. Sweet and delicious. Will I do this again?  Sure will. Maybe even when Ellen gets home from work and wants a snack before class. I suggest you make these. Your mouth will thank you. God bless, thanks for reading and see you under the apple tree.

First Child

We are having our first child in October.  Any food advice for when he is old enough to eat solid or semi solid food?  We plan on making our own baby food when he is not nursing.  His name is Banner-Wolf Midnight.  You heard it here first.  All others are just knockoffs.  God bless, thanks for reading and see you at the hospital holding our baby.

Food truck Lunch

Food truck lunch
The Java Cruiser was my lunch destination today. Big Cheese. Grilled cheese and coffee is the trucks specialty. I missed it Tuesday when they were here for breakfast. I will not make that mistake again. Jeff (owner and chef) has his stuff together running tight truck.  I ordered The Caprese. Mozzarella, basil pesto, balsamic and tomato on sourdough bread.  Bacon was a side addition so I added it. It looks messy but its not. I just opened it up to expose you all the tasty meet, cheese and tomato.  Bacon very crunchy. I love that. I hate soggy bacon. Tomato and mozzarella worked really well. The pesto basil and balsamic topped off the sandwich perfectly. It was fresh, hot and grilled really well. All in all a very nice sandwich. Would love to have this on a bagel. Jeff said they had a homemade hot sauce which I would have loved to added. Maybe next time. Because there will be a next time. Do I recommend this RR ( rolling restaurant ), I sure would. So if you see them chance them down. God bless, thanks for reading and see you at the roadside RR. http://www.javacruiser.com

Peach festival

Ellen went to a peach festival today after church and brought home all these goodies. I had the doughnuts for a snack after dinner with farm fresh sweet corn with roasted ,potatoes, onions, squash, zucchini, eggplant and tomatoes. Most of which were from our garden. The doughnut was very tasty. On a scale of doughnuts it scored a 9 out of 10. Sorry you all can't try one as well. You just have to take my word for it. I do have a few other dishes I wanted to post but have been lazy about it. I want to try to post about once or twice a week. I guess I need to eat some different things so I have a reason. Well God bless, thanks for reading and see you at what ever festival you like.

Pizza with no picture :(

Well it has been a while but here I am.  Sorry no pictures this time but I have eaten a few things that i did take pictures of.  I wanted to review this restaurant because of how good it was.  It was a family owned pizza place called Piezano's Pizza and Italian.  It is in Ocean City Maryland right on the boardwalk.
  http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g41298-d679185-Reviews-Piezano_s_Pizza_Italian-Ocean_City_Maryland.html

They do not have a website so here is the review on tripadvisor.  If you are ever there in OC eat here.  Do not stop at Dough Roller.  Support the family owned business.  We had the pizza.  They sell it by the slice, half pie or full pie.  We had the half (four slices) thin crust.  Real cheese and sauce was very tasty.  Wait staff was very attentive and helpful and for a hot day the AC was a blessing.  Go in a off hour like we did because after we ordered and we were the only ones in the dining area the place filled up.  Not one table left and people were waiting outside for one.  Would I eat here again? Oh yeah and so should you.  Sorry again no pictures but you all know what a thin crust pizza looks like. Am I right?  God bless, thanks for eating and see you at the table.

A little break

I took a little break from blogging not because I have not been eating but because as all of you know life catches up and you have to peddle faster. Well I am back and have a few dishes for you. The first is a brick oven pizza from Artisans & Oak. www.artisansandoak.com. Located in the Hanover Amish market this little place is a hidden gem. I had the classic and Ellen had a specialty white pizza with sliced olives. The brick oven makes the best pizza and wood fired gives the crust and cheese that smoky flavor. The sauce was perfect. Personal size for all pizzas and you can taste the love in it. Visit them. Eat their food and like me you will be hooked and return again. The second is tuna soft tacos with lettuce and wasabi. I had these in Baltimore at a place called Frank & Nic's west end grille www.Frankandnics.com Family friendly and daily specials. I wanted the
Cuban but they already sold out so I went with the tacos. Not a filling dish, very light but was tasty. Waitress was very attentive and friendly. I think this is a great spot for a lunch before a game so you don't go into the ball park hungry. Will I go again. Yes but I do want to try a few other places. There are a few other dishes I have to write about but just wanted to get these out. Enjoy and it's good to be back blogging.God bless, thanks for reading and continue eating.

Quiche and comics

This weekend was fun. We went to First Saturday Frederick. We had an awesome night with perfect weather and some good food. We had pizza but I am not here to talk about that. I am here to share the very tasty Quiche (cheese, 4 fresh eggs, leaks and spinach)  I had mine with some chips and salsa which really good.  I did not know how I would like it but it turns out that I had a huge slice and took some for lunch today.  So why are there comics on a food blog?  Well glad you asked.  I got these gems from Brainstormcomics.com in Frederick Md.  If you are down town please check them out and give them your business.  Really friendly staff and a great selection of comics.  Two of the three pictured are prints done by Scottie Young and the comic on the lower right is done by him as well.  Love his work and they will look great in the new room.  I now need to get more prints and comics done by him. And Scottie if you are reading this maybe come to Baltimore Comic Con so your fans can get things signed.  Well folks.  God bless, thanks for reading and see you at the comic store or buffet.
